Huuh, probably because the rules are different here. Or this is something... I dunno, interrupting that time you're from? Like a sudden side plot introduced in a story that could completely derail the ending. But if that's the case, I'd say this is so-so - not the worst, but far from the best.
It is possible, with the correct magic, to draw a coherent pattern from the aetherial sea if not too long has passed since the person returned to it. But I had in no way expected that I would experience such, nor that I would return as Venat rather than Hydaelyn.
As I judge it... this world itself is a parallel to a primal. It has been conjured into existence for a purpose, and as we enter its sphere, we in turn become subject to its purpose and the manner through which it manifests. Thus we have magics granted by it, rather than what we ought to have, for one.
Hrm... that does make sense. Can't blame them for the limitations though; some of us seem to cause enough outside problems without our normal abilities.
Perhaps. I am not bragging to say that the creation magic I ought to possess by nature puts shame to anything this world has thus far offered. I regret what I must leave undone...
